Abstract Finnish civil war 1918, was an outcome of breaking out First world War 1914 -1918 ,and Russian revolutions 0f 1917.there were many causes that led to the civil war .Russification policy used by Russian empire in Finland was the most important factor as it made finnish nationalists felt their country was occupied by Russian .also bad administration of internal affairs concerning disbanding Finnish local army and forcing young people to join Russian army made those who thought of independence declared their rejection in the forms of strikes and assassinations of high Russian officials .However ,civil war lasted more than three monthes,between the whites guard supported by Germany and Sweden ,and the red guard backed by Russia .civil war ended with the victory of the whites in May 1918,who formed a new government excluded social democratic party members.white and Red Terror were the most important result of the conflict as 36.000 of finnish people killed and some others immigrated to the United States and Russia.futhermore,Finnish economy had faced great challenges concerning Russian policy of preventing finnish goods being entered Russian markets.also civil war made a deep rift between the finnish society itself lasted at least three generations.الملخص
