Abstract

The Cultural Criticism by A. Al-Ghadami, between Pioneering an Plagiarism Abdullah Al-Ghadami’s book “ The cultural criticism” has been an important reference for most of the Arab cultural critics and that has made it a dominant focal point within the cultural criticism debate while a big number of critics adopted Al-Ghadami’s book as a sample for their observations and inquiry. Therefore, I handpicked a group of Iraqi critics who devoted significant parts of their research and study for Al-Ghadami’s book. I traced the critics’ viewpoints of Al-Ghadami’s project which was traded between the opposing hands of acceptance and rejection at times and debate at other times, some of those critics described him as a pioneer whereas others denied him such a thing, attributing pioneering the field to Iraqi critics. This simple research is tracking down the vantage points of Iraqi critics on Al-Ghadami’s book by focusing on the important themes of the book such as the death of literary criticism, the cultural pattern, stallion and the critical procedure and how to deal with them critically. The critical specimens of the Iraqi critics are research papers authored on Al-Chadami’s book and separately published in different books of cultural criticism. I found that Hussien Al-Qassid has shown sharp emotions that made him far removed from objectivity while Prof. Samir Al-Khalil’s fascination with Al-Ghadami’s project has also removed him from the debate on the project and its validity except for few remarks made by Prof. Al=Khalil that still did not contribute to a careful analysis of the project. Moreover, Prof. Bushra M. Salah and the critic Baqir J. Mohammad tried to hold the stick from the middle when they debated the project passively without taking sides. I tried to add critical debates and inquiries that might have not been in my mind for quite some time about this project and may have not been risen by other Iraqi critics.
