Identity Styles of University Students

Abstract

The present study aims at:
1- Knowing identity styles of university students.
2- Knowing the statistical differences in identity styles of university students
according to gender (male/ female) and specialization (scientific/humanity),
and moreover knowing the interaction between gender and specialization in
university students.
The sample consists of (400) male and female students from university
students of Al-Mustansiriah choosing randomly stratified, (200) males and
(200) females. The scale of identity style has been administered on them. The
scale is prepared by the researcher depending on Berzonsky theory (1989).

After translating the scale, making translation validity and after the statistical
treatment, the results show that university students have identity styles and
there are no statistically significant differences according to gender (male/
female) and specialization (scientific/humanity) and the interaction with them
in any style of identity style in university student.
