Abstract

      Most of eastern people who have traveled to west, have been fascinated by the progress of the West. For this reason, they have returned from the East and its manifestations and have tried to compare between east and west, in order to finally reach to dominant culture. In spite of the fact that these comparisons come with factual details, to a large extent, show their extreme fascination by the western countries and exaggeration in expressing the Western transformation. This study intends to make a comparative examination between travelogue of Mirza Saleh Shirazi and travelogue 'Takhlis al-Ebriz' of Rifa'a al-Tahtawi from Egypt based on Slavic school and also intends to criticize and compare the dispute between the eastern person and the western one into thought and text of the two travelogues. The results show the both writers believed that the despotic political system, illiteracy and disseminate of ignorance and superstition are the main reason of eastern countries' backwardness. Mirza Saleh is more fascinated to European culture and civilization than Rifa'a al-Tahtawi, but Rafa'a tries to describe the west with its positive and negative features.  Rifa'a al-Tahtawi' Language and his literary and scientific descriptions in his travelogue has more firmness and authority than Mirza Saleh Shirazi' literary language.
