Abstract

       The study of the current research is based on the urban planning directions for the climatic treatment of the city of Najaf, because it is of great importance as one of the cities that fall within the semi-desert dry environment, where most of its urban designs came as a simulation of the western model that does not fit the nature of the prevailing climate in the region. The atmosphere of the city of Najaf has a direct and indirect impact on the city planning. The research was based on the field study and the questionnaire form through the use of Delphi method to analyze the results. The research reached several results:

1. Solar radiation and temperature have a direct effect on the design of the residential unit with an importance of(92.33%(of the total elements of the other climate, especially that temperature is a climatic element affecting the thermal comfort of humans, which is the main source of comfort in the buildings of modern style.

2.The wind had a significant difference between)52%(and medium (14%)and the weak (34%).The moisture and drought component had limited impact on urban planning
