Abstract

At the end of 1943, with Soviet forces continued victories on the Eastern Front of Europe, the Hungarian government and many Hungarian politicians, realized that the defeat of Nazi Germany in the war was not unlikely matter. Therefore, it became necessary for that government to think and strive to get rid of the alliance's links with the Axis Bloc, especially Germany.

In this research, we are trying to shed light on the attitude of the United States of America to those secret efforts made by Hungary to communicate with the Allied countries, and its attempt to convey its views to them, especially the Americans, who were the most important political and military power in the Allied Bloc and whether those endeavours and contacts had a significant impact on US policy towards Hungary during the two months that the contacts took place.
