Abstract

The year 1969 is of great importance in the contemporary political history of Iraq, as the coup of July 17-30, 1968 is still in its infancy, and that its leaders were very wary of their enemies, especially since they led previous coups that were the end of failure, and this year witnessed specifically , A clear and distinguished activity of Mullah Mustafa Barzani in pushing the Kurdish issue forward and obtaining new political gains, especially in and around the city of Erbil. In this research, we will look at the political and military activities of Mullah Mustafa Barzani and his internal and external relations in the year 1969, and a brief presentation on his political life in an analytical scientific study in light of the American State Department documents and secret reports submitted by the intelligence service to the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, which are on the side It is of great importance because it dealt with minute details and reflected the follow-up by the state agencies to the Kurdish cause. Various sources were relied on, including published American documents, published and unpublished Iraqi documents, party publications, personal notes, and books on his life that dealt with the history of that period, the press, as well as letters, university papers and other sources.
