The Effect of Integrating Thinking Skills on Achievement and Critical Thinking Among Second-Grade Intermediate Students in The Holy Quran and Islamic Subject

Abstract

The current research aims to know the effect of using the strategy of integrating thinking skills on achievement and critical thinking among second-grade students in the intermediate class in the subject of the Holy Quran and Islamic education. The experimental design with partial control was chosen for the experimental and control groups. The researcher randomly chose two divisions from her divisions, namely (B and C), the two research samples, and she chose (35) students from Division (B) to study by incorporating thinking skills, and the experimental group consisted of (34) students from Division (C). It is studied in the usual way and the control group is formed, so the final sample was (69) students. Before starting the actual experiment, the researcher was keen to equalize the students of the two research groups in a number of variables, namely (the female students’ scores in the intelligence test, the general average for the sixth grade of primary school, the chronological age of the students calculated in months, the academic achievement of the fathers, the academic achievement of the mothers).

The researcher prepared the two research tools represented in two tests (achievement test and critical thinking), which were characterized by honesty and stability. The study experiment continued for an entire semester of the academic year (2017-2018) At the end of the experiment, the post-test was applied, and the results were statistically analyzed using the T-test for two independent samples, which showed a statistically significant difference between the two groupsand in favor of the experimental group and in light of the results of the research, the researcher recommended a number of recommendations.
